UK people, 5th of November/ V for Vendetta question?

I don't live in the uk(nor was born there)I live in the us(blah).but have family from there.Me and my family celebrate it,I know I don't celebrate it because he got caught.I just do I guess.But we make a fire and things like that.And recite other little poems about that.But I thnk it is amazing that a man had guts to do that.There is something wrong with america for sure I know that.We need our own little guy fawkes or V.I learn more about this each day I know that he was catholic and the king was protestant,so protestant must not be a fair religion.
